Move your existing SST setup — without a single minute of data loss

Is your server container running on Google Cloud or another provider right now? We've fully automated the migration. Your current setup keeps running until the new one is live. First month free.

What "migrating" means with us

We move nothing. We reuse your existing GTM containers (web + server) and host your server container on our infrastructure. Same containers, new hosting.

What stays the same

  • Your current GTM containers (web + server) — reused unchanged
  • Your tracking subdomain (e.g. sst.your-domain.com)
  • All your tags, triggers and variables — they stay in your own containers
  • Your GA4 stream, Google Ads Conversion Labels, Meta Pixel IDs
  • Your website snippet — no change needed
  • Your consent setup and cookie banner

What changes

  • Where the server runs: from your current provider to UpCloud Amsterdam
  • Who handles monitoring and security updates: we do
  • The invoice (via Mollie, Rompslomp invoice with PDF download)
  • The support route (via chat / WhatsApp / email)

How our migration flow works

Dual-running: your current setup stays active while we set up the new one in parallel. You pick the switch moment. In most cases everything is wrapped up within an hour.

1
Grant access to your current containers You give us user access to your web container and server container in Google Tag Manager. We move nothing — we simply host your existing containers on our infrastructure.
2
New VPS spun up to host your container In parallel with your current setup. Your own UpCloud VPS in Amsterdam, nginx + Docker. The Docker container runs your existing GTM server container — same container ID, same tags, same config. Only the hosting changes.
3
SSL cert prepared in advance For your current tracking subdomain. We get the certificate ready on our server so the DNS switch is seamless — no cert-issuance gap.
4
DNS switch on your go-ahead You change a single A record (or we do, if you delegate). From that moment requests go to our VPS. The old hosting stays on stand-by for rollback.
5
Verify the data flow In your dashboard you see real-time request volume and error rate. If everything's running: the old hosting can go off. If anything looks off: DNS back, no data loss.
6
Cancel the old hosting Only after you confirm the data is correct. We help you cancel your previous provider the right way.

"Not a second of downtime" — how?

The trick: both your current server and our new one can respond on the same tracking subdomain at the same time — as long as the DNS TTL allows it.

During the dual-running period

Your DNS still points to your old provider. But our new VPS is already fully ready: SSL cert valid, container live, health checks green. Just waiting to be switched on.

At the DNS-switch moment

A change to a single A record. Browsers with cached DNS keep going to the old server for a while (until the TTL expires, usually 5 min). New lookups go to our server. Both servers keep measuring events normally.

Rollback option: for up to 72 hours after the switch we can revert to your old provider with one DNS change. It's never been needed — but we build for it on purpose.

First month free

You migrate at no cost. You only start paying the regular monthly rate from month 2.

What's free?

  • The migration flow itself (engineering, setup, DNS work)
  • Month 1 on your new plan (Starter €20)
  • Support during the transition

What do we expect from you?

  • Access to your current GTM server container (or an export)
  • Approval of the DNS switch (you stay in control)
  • Cancelling your previous provider yourself (we help with timing)

Frequently asked questions — Migration

How long does a migration take?

In most cases within an hour. Our provisioning runs automatically (new VPS + SST Container + SSL certificate for your subdomain). The only human step is your DNS switch, at the moment you choose. After that DNS propagates in 5-30 minutes and the migration is done.

Will I lose historical GA4 data?

No. GA4 is completely separate from your server container — your historical data stays in GA4. The server container is only the "transit hub" for events. New events keep using the same GA4 stream ID, so they flow straight into the same property.

Do you have access to all my data during the migration?

We request user access to your web and server container in Google Tag Manager — needed to host your server container on our infrastructure and to update it for new GTM versions. Live event payloads travel from your website through our server to Google/Meta; we don't log them persistently. The only data we keep is aggregated request volume for your own dashboard.

Can I go back to my old provider if I'm not happy?

Yes. Monthly cancellable, no notice period. We hand you a complete export of your GTM server container (same format as at the start). No vendor lock-in.

Does this work if I currently self-host on Google Cloud Run?

Yes — that's one of the most common migration scenarios. Cloud Run with 3 server instances costs €120-300/month in hosting. With us, from €20/month for 1 site. The migration itself is identical to other scenarios.

What if my current subdomain has an odd TTL?

A TTL of 24h or more = we'll ask you to set it to 300 seconds 48h before the switch. A standard TTL (300-3600s) requires no action in advance.
